Welcome to the first and very uniquely titled blog post on kopisusuinterface.com. I aim to use this blog to document various and assorted adventures as I explore and learn about life in Brunei and other nearby Southeast Asian nations. I hope to do this in a fun and light-hearted way, particularly from the lense of a geeky Xennial American who has only ever been to one other country in his life (Austria) and only focused on one city (Salzburg) that I really didn't get to see much of because I was too busy rehearsing for operas.

That, of course, was well over a decade ago. Ever since, the farthest I usually traveled was about 800km (I apologize to my American readers, but I've gone native and adopted the metric system), down to California and back up to Oregon.

Questions You Didn't Ask

Why kopisusuinterface?

Because in Malay, Kopi = Coffee, Susu = Milk, and I love both enough (especially when combined) that I very much embody the concept of a coffee-milk interface.

Why a blog and not social media?

Crafting my own custom, lightweight blogging platform and going through the whole process of deploying and hosting it gives me the ability to both learn and express my creativity in other ways. This blog currently is written in NextJS, for example. In the future, I may continue to build off of that, or I may wish to use it as a vehicle to learn about a different technology.

But why not social media?

I like having my own quiet little place where I can compose my thoughts in peace and not be distracted by endless algorithmic feeds.

Why so simple-looking?

At this present time, I like to just focus on writing, and I'd like those who visit to focus on reading what is written. Perhaps, in the future, I'll update this to appear more bombastic and colorful.
